March 2018 Newsletter - "What is a Teacher?" by Timothy Cho

What is a Master, Teacher, Rabbi, and why they are appointed to preach the kingdom of God. What is the meaning behind the word Master? In Hebrew and Greek, master means: Greek G1320 didaskalos: instructor - doctor, master, teacher, as one who showed men the way of salvation. Ex: apostles, and Paul Hebrew H113: rule, ruler, lord, judge, judgment

According to the Greek and Hebrew definitions, master means: an apostle who understands the instruction (blueprint) of a doctrine.

Through studies of the scriptures and the Early Church Fathers (ECF), we will expound on why only through the true apostles our soul can be restored. Now the scriptures will begin to show the order of what the job of the true apostles is…

(2 Tim 2:15) “Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.”

As we can see here, when the scriptures are rightly divided, the Word of Truth is revealed. This is what the ECF defined as the mysteries and secrets of the Word. This is the hidden meaning of the scripture that is not plain to the eye but only revealed through divine revelation. However, there are only 2 classes of people that teach this. One of these is the Apostles. This is mentioned in Ephesians 3.

Eph 3:2-5  Assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace that was entrusted to me [to dispense to you] for your benefit, [And] that the mystery (secret) was made known to me and I was allowed to comprehend it by direct revelation, as I already briefly wrote you. When you read this you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ.[This mystery] was never disclosed to human beings in past generations as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles (consecrated messengers) and prophets by the [Holy] Spirit.”

Now we can see who are the ones who have the grace. We can see that true grace is the revelation of the Word, mysteries and secrets. It was given to an apostle to dispense to us to receive this Grace. This means there is no free grace. The false theology that teaches that Jesus died on the cross for me so I can do whatever I want and it's covered by the grace contradicts these scriptures and the ECF. The grace was given to Paul for the Church, which means there is a price to be paid. What is this price you ask? Death to self, or rather death to the carnal/fleshly nature.

The true apostles go through the trials and tribulations to become the fathers of the faith. They will give their lives to deliver the truth to restore humanity back to the Kingdom of God.

St clement – 1st Epistle to Corinthians – Ch1-30. 1.01.02

Moreover, ye were all distinguished by humility, and were in no respect puffed up with pride, but yielded obedience rather than extorted it, (Eph 5:21; 1Pe 5:5) and were more willing to give than to receive. (Act 20:35) Content with the provision which God had made for you, and carefully attending to His words, ye were inwardly filled with His doctrine, and His sufferings were before your eyes. Thus a profound and abundant peace was given to you all, and ye had an insatiable desire for doing good, while a full outpouring of the Holy Spirit was upon you all.

This is what is required to be a master, an apostle of the faith, according to the Early Church Fathers.

Constitution of the Apostles – Book2 – part 1

Let him be patient and gentle in his admonitions, well   instructed himself, meditating in and diligently studying the Lord’s books, and reading them frequently, that so he may be able carefully to interpret the Scriptures, expounding the Gospel in correspondence with the prophets and with the law; and let the expositions from the law and the prophets correspond to the Gospel. For the Lord Jesus says: “Search the Scriptures; for they are those which testify of me.” (Joh 5:39) And again: “For Moses wrote of me.” (Joh 5:46) But, above all, let him carefully distinguish between the original law and the additional precepts, and show which are the laws for believers, and which the bonds for the unbelievers

Jesus  was often referred to as a Master by the Pharisees in the Gospel: "Who came to Jesus at night and said to Him, Rabbi (master), we know and are certain that You have come from God [as] a Teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him," (John 3:2)

Timothy stated: "Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, and for training in righteousness, So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work," (2Ti 3:16-17).

These are quotes from Origen's Homilies on Ezekiel:

“administered is to cure the sick, to improve those who have despised listening to his words.” (Mark 2:17, Matt 9:12, Luke 5:31)

"It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but the sinner"

The apostles bring the Word mentioned in 2 Timothy 3;16-17, "For instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, and for training in righteousness."

John 10:10 says,  "The thief (pastors, satan) come only in order to steal and kill and destroy to pull us away from God.The true apostles (master, teacher) will bring the secrets from the behind the veil and  understand how to offer a perfect sacrifice (peoples souls) to the Lord.  That we may have eternal life, and have it in abundance."

Blessings and Shalom!
