November 2017 Newsletter - "Prayer" by Raul Ayala
Shalom everyone! This has been a very busy season for all of us, and we’ve all learned a lot about what we’re capable of doing, and yet, we are capable of doing so much more! We can do all things in Christ can be applied to every area of ministry, deliverance, teaching, fasting, and prayer. We are capable of praying for hours on end! But it takes us being able to traverse that mind that we each carry from these fleshy senses. When we really look at what happened on the day of Pentecost, it was much more than just people sitting in a room waiting for God to come. The number 50 in the Old Testament is representative of the cycle of jubilee, deliverance, and freedom. What was really happening to the Apostles was a transmission and complete freedom from earthly thought to Heavenly thought.
A lot of failed prayers and disconnection with God in prayer comes from the mind not being aligned with the mindset of God. You might be thinking, well that’s fine and dandy but how do I get there? The clear answer is in the Words of the Master Himself, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well,” Mathew 6:33. Messiah didn’t ask us or instruct us to seek for natural things did He? He asked us to seek the kingdom! He plainly stated to the Jews that his kingdom was not of this earth, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place." John 18:36.
Everything that is desirous in this realm conflicts with the very nature of what we truly are and what we’ve been taught we need to satisfy our senses. Prayer is less about opening your mouth and rehearing words; it’s about connecting your mind, your heart, and your very soul to the Father, lifting from the natural elements to the heavenly vision. Prayer starts within you and expands out, and it seeks to reunite you with the one who formed you.
Through the Early Church they were taught to pray for only the heavenly things, and any necessity would be given. It didn’t need to be asked for -- it was given because the Father knows our natural needs. However, His aim is to realign us to seek HIM, His nature, and His government, so we can move that government from the celestial to a terrestrial existence.
Don’t pray with your lips, but pray with your soul that is washed from perverse thoughts, anger, bitterness, and jealousy. Pray with a heart whose complete aim is be like Christ, not with words “of human wisdom” but with thoughts given by the divine Spirit, so that without opening your mouth, you begin to connect to the Eternal Himself.
